Staffordshire Football Therapy

About the club

Staffordshire football therapy in Rugeley is as a way for men to get out and use football to improve their mental health and their fitness at the same time.

Since starting we have gone from an average of 10 players per week, to having nearly 60 members playing alternatively each week.

We decided it was an opportunity to expand what we do across two sites with our Penkridge site opening up half way through this year.

During this time we have hosted a number of charity events raising money for causes such as JOEL who support families through pregnancy and parenting after baby loss (https://joeltcp.org) where we raised a total of 242.

The second Charity event we took part in saw us raise 282 for Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity (https://www.lighthouseclub.org)

The final charity event of this year we took part in was with the help of Lea Hall Football club, we had meetings with their chairman and secretary who wanted to help us grow as much as possible, they gave us to opportunity to use their facilities and play against a team they had put together, they also spoke to people who wanted to sponsor such event and with this we were able to get funds for trophies from CH Accounting Solutions, Match balls from Your Mortgage Solutions and kits for lea hall from C.Romeo Brickwork.

For this event we chose the mental health charity MANUP (https://www.manup.how) to donate profits too as well as raising our own money to continue the work we are doing in the future. As a total we Raised 1145.64 which meant 572.82 was split.

During this year we have had a massive amount of interest from all across Staffordshire wanting to help our cause, these things include, a mental health nurse pushing for us to be recommended within all doctors surgeries within Staffordshire which has seen at least 8 of our members come through, Recommendations from the YMCA, work within the Staffordshire community hosting talks to boost our profile, Aswell as working with another mental health charity Andy’s Man Club (https://andysmanclub.co.uk) designing some merchandise for us to sell to raise money for both amazing causes.

We have undertaken a massive ammount in such a small space of time, and none of this would have been possible if it hadn’t been for the background staff working incredibly hard to keep all this going and always wanting to push for more, along side this without our players and community support none of this would be worthwhile.

So from everyone here at Staffordshire football therapy

We thank you.
