Staffordshire Football Therapy

Meet the team

Meet our team, where football meets mental health. We’re more than just players; we’re allies in each other’s struggles and champions of each other’s victories. Join us as we kick stigma to the curb and score big on support and friendship. Together, we’re a winning team on and off the field.

I love meeting new people and feeling that sense of belonging, wether I need somebody to talk too or just get away from the house for an hour, every week this is the highlight, we have an amazing group of lads who have helped me with my own mental health demons, sometimes we aren’t a bad team either!

SFT started just as I was going through a messy breakup, the lads who were involved at the time were fantastic, helping me take my mind off everything and make me smile again,

as we’ve progressed iv started to love football again and have grown personally since being part of SFT,

I hope anyone who sees this reaches out, your not alone come #TackleTheStigma with us.

We all want to be the best versions of ourselves. And talking to a therapist, being vulnerable, opening up about what you’re dealing with, it only helps. Nobody can deal with life all alone.”

:Some people hide their pain. I’m not proud of the fact that I don’t feel good about myself a lot of the time, but it’s nothing I’m ashamed of.

I am bent, but not broken. I am scarred, but not disfigured. I am sad, but not hopeless. I am tired, but not powerless. I am angry, but not bitter. I am depressed, but not giving up.

Mental health is just as important as… physical health and deserves the same quality of support.

You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you human

“You are not your illness. You have an individual story to tell. You have a name, a history, a personality. Staying yourself is part of the battle.
